Selsey’s good start to the SCFL season continued with a hard-fought 2-0 win against a competitive Hailsham Town team on Saturday. The Blues started brightly with MoM Ryan Morey keeping the visitors’ back four on their toes as he pulled all the strings. He was a constant threat to the away side and created chances for Morgan Forry and Jake Goulding but neither could take the opportunities It was left to Morey to score the first after 38 minutes when he latched on to a wayward pass from the Hailsham goalkeeper. He calmly took the ball under control and rolled it back past him. Selsey continued to enjoy the majority of possession up to half-time but were unable to increase their lead. It was more of the same in the second half as Selsey continued to have the majority of possession. Chances were missed bythe home side and a Morey free-kick came crashing back off the crossbar with the away keeper rooted to his line. Selsey had to wait until the 89th minute before the game was put to bed when Goulding scored his fifth goal in three games, converting a cross from close range. Manager Steve Bailey was pleased with the performance and how his side dominated the game. He said "I felt we could and should have scored more. The game was dominated by us from start to finish and it would have been an injustice if we had no come out of it with all three points".
