"When you put in the work hard, you get what you deserve, and the lads deserve the credit" - Pearce

Men's manager Daren Pearce gives his thoughts following a successful two weekends in the league

Saturday 12th October saw us return home to play Copthorne on a wet afternoon at the Seal Bay Stadium. But the weather couldn't dampen the lads mood and commitment in a game which saw us dominant long periods of the game and scoring 3 goals with no reply gave us a good solid home win.

Recently we haven't worked hard enough in periods of games but Saturday the lads did, this gives you a great base to build on and we did on more than one occasion that Saturday. Leading 1-0 at the break, you could argue we should of been 3 or 4 up if we would of taken our chances, but we didn't similar to recent weeks where we didn't build on it. Against Copthorne however, we did and second half we put the game to bed scoring another 2 goals and defending well when called upon.

Ending the game with the 3 points and a pleasing performance where the lads worked hard and run harder than our opponents and if you do this 9 times out of 10 you get what you deserve in games.

Saturday then saw us make the short trip to Storrington and with them making a solid start to the season, along with the difficult playing conditions after heavy over night rain, it was always going to be a tough game.

The lads to their credit, started the game really well and we should of gone ahead early on when the ball had crossed the line but the ref waived away the goal which should of stood. However it didn't take us long to take the lead, James Henton firing home the first goal.

This was soon followed by a Kieren Jones strike and then a George Cody finish from outside the box this giving us a commanding 3-0 lead at the break and in truth it could have been 4 or 5 in truth. The defence stood firm and we took our chances in the first half which we haven't been doing in previous games.

The second half we continued the good work but our hosts did get a goal back but even this was a little contentious with the players stopping as the ball had seemed to go out of play. After this we again had more chances to kill the game right off but a little more care in front of goal was needed. The majority of the second half though we managed the game quite well limiting our hosts to the odd break away. This given us the 3 points and a well deserved win on the road.

The lads deserve the credit for today's win, They carried out the game plan all over the pitch not giving our hosts any time to settle and this provided us with the platform for today's win.

Now our attention turns to Tuesday night when we host East Preston, kick off at 7.45pm
