Saturday saw us entertain Oakwood on a sunny afternoon at the Seal Bay stadium and like every game in the league, its not just a case of turn up and take the 3 points off them without putting the game plan to work and effort in to carry this out.
We started well and went ahead through Akil Alleyne. A little piece of sloppy play let in Oakwood to equalise. The game then went a bit scrappy until half time although we should of gone ahead when Kieren Jones went through one on one but lifted his lob over the goalkeeper and over the bar.
The second half we started to move the ball better and went ahead when Kieren Jones got the faintest of touches on a cross although it may have looked like an own goal. This saw the confidence flow through the lads and we had a few more chances to increase our lead and we put the game to bed with Ben Dines heading home a cross after a free kick had been half cleared. This gave us a 3-1 win and the 3 points and a positive response after the midweek defeat to Arundel,.
We know where we are as a group and we know we have work to do, but the lads are learning fast and will continue putting the work in and understanding what will be needed for this season.
Wednesday night we travel to Mile Oak in the cup ko 7.30pm then Saturday we travel to Reigate Priory ko 3pm @Horley fc
