Bradley Higgins-Pearce scored the winner as Selsey won a five-goal thriller against Billingshurst at Seal Bay Resort Stadium

Selsey got off to the best of starts after Shane Brazil received the ball from a throw in on the right, turned his marker and delivered a great cross to James Henton who headed it in the bottom corner to give the Blues an early lead.

Billingshurst were gifted an equaliser after a poor pass from Corey Burns in the box fell to Elroy Wealthyland and after Kye Hartt impressively blocked the effort, Ronnie Reeves fired to bring the visitor’s level.

The Blues came close when Ollie Courtney was quick to rush off his line before Brazil’s lofted ball fell short and was cleared as Ryan Morey tried to get to it.

Selsey restored their lead after Morey found Brazil with a brilliant pass who then took on the defence before striking the ball into the bottom corner as it bounced in off the left post.

The Blues denied Billingshurst an instant equaliser when Hartt produced an impressive block from Reeves attempt which Syd Davies dived for before he superbly saved the rebound.

Davies came to the rescue for the Blues again when he produced another impressive save from Wealthyland’s attempt after Jack North blocked the initial effort.

After many attempts, the visitors equalised before the half time whistle when Sam Jobbins wide free kick floated over the Selsey defence and ended in the back of the net as Davies misread the dipping ball.

Higgins-Pearce netted for the Blues in the 55th minute to put Daren Pearce’s side ahead for the third time after a great run from Brazil who played the ball to Higgins-Pearce on the edge of the box and scored his second attempt at goal after his blocked effort.

The Blues came close after Morey determinedly closed down Courtney and blocked his pass before Brazil won the ball and dazzled past the Billingshurst defence but Courtney did well to claim the ball as Brazil tried to go round him.

Selsey had another chance to take pressure off their 1 goal lead when Henton fizzed the ball across goal but was nobody there to finish it for the Blues and Henton found Harry Fox who struck wide before the full-time whistle as Selsey battled for a well-deserved victory.
