Points shared in our first league match

We waited for what seemed to be an eternity to play our first competitive game since last season being cut short due to Covid 19.

We found ourselves on our travels to the much fancied Seaford FC who have in the last few seasons been building a club who want to be community based and provide football for all, not just at senior level, similar to our own vision here at the Bunn Leisure Stadium.

Seaford provided us with a close fought game, they are an experienced side looking to do well this season and we knew they would be tough opposition especially on their home turf.

We took an early lead through Max Davies diverting a Corey Burns shot past the stranded keeper and into the net. It was a good game in general with two sides going at it in the sunshine and in front of a good size crowd.

Seaford responded with some good set pieces and shots that put our defence under pressure but with organised and determined defending the the lads didn't give up their 1-0 lead and took this into half time.

In the second half Seaford put our defence under more pressure. We soaked this up trying to break Seaford on the counter attack on a couple of occasions. With a bit more care on the final pass or final shot we could have increased our lead.

Defence held strong and our lads worked hard to deny the hosts the equaliser they craved, it looked like we would hold out, but with just minutes remaining in stoppage time Seaford grabbed their equaliser and the points were shared.

All in all a fair result for our first competitive game in almost 6 months. Our focus now turns to Tuesday night at home to Roffey FC.
